My prenatal and childbirth instructor invites pregnant women to come the 3rd Thursday of every month to walk the labyrinth at Grace Cathedral. Since it is the last time some of my preggie friends will be able to walk it, I decided to go.
We are all given a piece of string to hold and/or fiddle/twirl during the walk. Before we enter, our foreheads are anointed with oil and when we depart we are given big hugs by 2 midwives. The walk symbolizes labor - the first stage gets you to the center and the last stage leads you out of the labyrinth. It was very special. Afterwards, I went to a Japanese lunch with 4 other preggies who are all in my childbirth class.
