12 hour nights & The Book

I don't think I have ever mentioned the book that has guided me through Oskar's feeding and sleeping schedule. Kudos to Karen Seratti who gave me "The Contented Little Baby" book! She was right - it rocks. It has given me guidance on breastfeeding, napping, introduction of solids, nighttime waking/feeding and aided in troubleshooting.

As of last Thursday, we stopped waking Oskar for his 10:30ish feeding and changing....and magically, just like the book said, he slept through the night. I thought 8 hours was a dream. 12 is even better.

Every time he gets a bit out of sorts and it is not teething, I check the book and modify his schedule to the next stage. It always seems to do the trick. Thankfully, Milla is a champ at maneuvering him to the next stage...with park diversions.

Now, I haven't followed the book 100%. It is on the strict side. As a guideline, it is superb. The other books are too vague and don't provide enough variation to help with troubleshooting.

When I started putting Oskar on the schedule at about 2 months or less, it was no struggle at all. He seemed already on it and appeared to welcome the schedule changes as they were introduced.

Everything is subject to change, but for now, I credit this little blue book with our success (a happy baby) and am eager to read the one for the toddler years.
