We have a tradition with Alex and Jan to go to Berkeley 2 times a year to view, oggle and purchase ceramics. Eagerly, each Spring and Fall, we await their postcards with their dates for open studios and schedule a time when we all can meet there. We seem to find a new treasure each time we go, but the days events follow a certain routine - breakfast at Bette's Diner, drive to El Cerrito for Paula Ross' opening, back to 5th street to see Gary Holt, Mary Law (love her Scottish Breakfast tea - almost like coffee in it darkness) and sometimes the Coop. Last time we added Shibumi gallery to our day and this time it was the Trax Gallery. For the first time, we topped the day off at the Pyramid Brewery with a beer and some fried calamari - delish.
This was Oskar's first ceramic day in Berkeley. He tried out toast for the first time. It was a hit.
So glad Alex and Jan can be surrogate grandparents from time to time. Sounds like a fun day was had by all. Is that a persimmon tree? Reminds me of your wedding! Gramsy
