Swim Class - III & IV

III - No pictures for this one (just one for the school's web site) because it was just me and Oskar. Jackie was our teacher. We got there a half hour before class on Thursday morning so O could acclimate. We were told off twice for playing near the water and sitting on the side of the pool. Apparently, you have to wait patiently on the bench....and sit. We went to the waiting area where there is a slide that is in the form of a big whale. O loved it. In the pool, the entry was much better. Oskar actually smiled a few times. He was wary for sure and cried when I let go for the teacher to take him. My favorite moment was when we were teaching the kids to climb out of the pool (elbow, elbow, tummy, knee) and then they sit while we sing. At the end of the little 3 line ditty (humpty etc), they are supposed to lean/dive into your arms. On try number 2, our little guy showed his pearly whites, leaned towards me......and I knew we had a swimmer. Yay!

IV - Oskar sat patiently in my arms while we waited a few minutes for class. He kept his flippers on and didn't freak out when I dunked him towards the teacher. Oh and he ever-so-gracefully waves his hands in the water when I move him around as if he is paddling. We are working on the "bubble face" (kissing lips and puffed cheeks) so that he makes it before I dunk him. Signals holding breath. I did it for him in the pool and dunked myself. He laughed. Jackie said we should practice in the tub. So far, he doesn't do much bubble facing but he will put his face in the water.

Next up, David wants to take him to Jackie's class.

  1. We're waiting to see: Is it Holly's magic or the female instructor's charm? Let us know as Oskar advances in the Thursday class! Gramsy
