Night-Night Fairy

Today, all of Oskar's night-nights were put into a box for the Night-Night Fairy to come get them and give them to all the baby boys and girls who don't have any. Since Oskar is 3, he is does not need them any more.

We threw in our pacifiers since we also don't need them. Neither boy ever took to them.

6-7 night-nights, 10+ pacifiers, a card to night-night fairy all in a box.

Our preschool Director said that the parents have the attachment, and that the kids are totally cool with letting them go. She may be right. Time will tell. The fairy idea came from her.

Oskar had fun putting the box together and placing it on our stoop. David is reading books right now. I am very curious if there will be any crying for his night-night tonight, tomorrow or in the future. I know that I had a horrible time letting my "fluffy" go. I believe I threw him in the dump only to have my dad retrieve it the next day. "Fluffy" is still with me and lives (most of the time) in the bottom of Oskar's toy chest.

Not sure what the Night-Night Fairy will do with the night-night box. She wanted to bring a stuffed animal to leave in its place but didn't have time to get one. I figure she can leave one on Thursday morning....took her a while to fly back with a gift for Oskar.

Long live lovies, night-nights, blankies, pacies, binkies or whatever get kids to age 3.

  1. My heart goes out to Oskar! I'll be VERY surprised if he is "cool" with letting his "night-nights" go! I hope the Night-Night fairy can bring him something VERY CUDDLY! (I have a white Polar bear that would have been perfect!) Good luck to everyone! Love and hugs - Gramsy. P.S. Growing up is tough sometimes! : )
